JUST LANDED FROM THAT FIRST TANDEM JUMP? WONDERING WHEN YOU CAN GET BACK UP THERE UNDER YOUR OWN PARACHUTE TO EXPERIENCE YOUR FIRST SKYDIVE SOLO?

Now we’re talkin’.

Solo skydiving might have seemed farfetched before you got that initial introduction to freefall. Now–not so much, right? On your jump, you might have been looking at the videographer on your skydive, hanging out in the sky just outside arm’s reach, looking limber and agile in that tiny little parachute…and, just maybe, you were a little jealous. You wanted to be flippin’ and spinnin’ around on your own terms. And guess what? You can. YOU. Exactly as you are.

1. YOU CAN BLOW OFF THE HATERS.

If you tell someone you’re learning to skydive and they look at you incredulously, you can be sure of one thing: That reaction is not about you. That’s their fear and insecurity, popping out in your direction. You can expect raised eyebrows; you can expect disbelief…but we think there’s quite a bit more to you than meets the eye, anyway.

Own that unique awesomeness that makes the pod people all itchy to tell you how nuts you are. It’ll serve you well in the sky.

2. YOU CAN LEARN THIS.

Mastering skydiving solo is akin to learning to drive a manual car. It’s a little tricky at the beginning, but as soon as you get the hang of it, you’ll forget about those early moments of confusion. Your body just does it, with minimal conscious input. At the beginning, you’ll be getting to know the dynamics of freefall; Pretty soon, you’ll be able to skydive upside-down, with your friends, while spinning around like you’re all on an enormous dance floor.

It happens faster than you think, and the more you do it, the better you’ll get at it. Trust the process.

3. YOU CAN COME AS YOU ARE.

If you’re expecting to see a bunch of puppy coeds when you rock up to the dropzone to take that first AFF solo skydive course, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. As it turns out, you don’t have to be a single person right out of college. As a matter of fact, it’s not at all unusual to be sharing that classroom with moms, engineers, scientists, pastors, long-haul truck drives, kindergarten teachers…the list goes on.

The demographics for our sport are all over the place (we even have a special club for skydivers over the age of 90), but one thing remains the same across age, color, race and creed: we’re all adventurists, and we’re all seekers. If that’s you, you’ll fit right in.

4. YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE.

Skydive Coastal Carolinas is pretty special for a lot of reasons, but one of the coolest things we’ve got going for us is our uniquely flexible solo skydiving certification program.

At most dropzones, you don’t have a choice. If you show up wanting to learn how to jump, you’re signed up for a Tandem Progression or AFF Training Program. Now, don’t get us wrong–this is a great, proven, effective method of learning how to skydive, and lots of our students take to it like airfishes to airwater. However, it’s not for everyone.

Solo skydiving is an incredibly rewarding experience. If you’re located in or near the Myrtle Beach area, our team at Skydive Coastal Carolinas would be honored to partner with you in that journey. We’re here to help you decide which method is best for you–and then, to guide you along as you tackle the challenge.
