Ground training is a bit more extensive
(about 6 hours) than tandem because the student will perform a
freefall on the very first jump. Aided by two AFF instructors,
the student will exit the aircraft from approximately 11,000'.
The instructors each maintain a grip on the student from the moment
they leave the aircraft until opening. This helps the student
keep the fall stable, perform practice ripcord pulls and monitor
altitude. The student will pull his/her ripcord at approximately
4,500 ft and then a person on the ground will assist you with steering
your parachute via radio, so that you may fly in for controllable
landing. Each level will teach you more and more about freefall
flying.
The AFF program is a nine level program.
Levels 1, 2 and 3 require two freefall instructors to accompany the
student. This allows for concentration on basic safety skills
such as altitude awareness, body position, stability during freefall
and most importantly -- successful ripcord pull. On level 3, the
instructors will release the student in freefall for the first time to
fly on their own.
Levels 4 through 9 require only one
freefall instructor and teach the student air skills (turns, forward
movement, docking on other people, etc.) Each level is designed to
take only one jump and requires about 45 minutes of training, but
sometimes levels will need to be repeated. After successfully
performing the objectives of each level, the student advances to the
next one. After level 9, the student enters a free format stage
where they practice and hone their skills by themselves or with a
coach until they obtain 25 freefalls and qualify for their A license.

Static-Line is a training program designed to build confidence and
experience into the beginner jumper. After a 4-5 hour ground training
class, the student is ready to board the plane. The jump
consists of a simple poised exit from the strut of the aircraft.
As the student falls away from the plane, the main canopy is deployed
by a "static line" attached to the aircraft. Students
will experience about two or three seconds of falling as the parachute
opens. Once the canopy is open a person on the ground will
assist you with steering your parachute via radio, so that you may fly
in for a controllable landing. During the next 4 static line jumps, the student pulls a
dummy ripcord as they leave the plane (the static line is still
deploying the parachute). As the number of Static-Line jumps
progress, so does the students abilities, advancing to freefall
skydiving. After 20 freefalls, and meeting other basic
requirements, the student receives their A license and is cleared off
student status.

We also offer Tandem Progression as an
Accelerated Free Fall option. This consists of 4 successful tandem
jumps where each jump you will learn a little more about the
responsibility and skills needed to skydive. Each jump will consist of
training including altitude awareness, proper pull procedures,
exposure to freefall, turns in freefall, canopy control, and proper
landing procedures. Upon successful completion of your tandem jumps,
you will attend a 4-6 hour ground school in preparation for your first
solo jump. On the 5th jump your instructor will assist you
in freefall using hand and arm signals until you open your parachute,
then with the assistance of a radio, guide you back to the landing
area. Levels 5 through 9 require only one freefall instructor and
teach the student air skills (turns, forward movement, docking on
other people, etc.) Each level is designed as a building block
and requires about 45 minutes of training. After successfully
performing the objectives of each level, the student advances to the
next one. After level 9, the student enters a free format stage where
he or she will practice and hone their skills by themselves or with a
coach until they obtain 25 jumps and qualify for their A license.
