About Operation Freefall:
Join us on ___________ for
Operation Freefall, the boldest, highest-altitude and most daring event
organized to put an end to sexual assault. Our drop zone, along with nearly 25
other dzs, will help hundreds of people across the country Take A Two-Mile
High Stand Against Sexual Assault.
By raising funds for Speaking Out
About Rape (SOAR) and the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN),
Operation Freefall will help:
Ø
Maintain and expand the
National Sexual Assault Hotline at (800) 656-HOPE (operated by RAINN) to
ensure access to free, confidential counseling to victims of sexual assault,
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Ø
Extend efforts to provide
prevention, recovery, and prosecution information to tens of millions of
people, including our community, each year.
Expand SOAR’s
programs to educate lawmakers, police officers, students and the media about
sexual assault.
Operation Freefall participants needn't be experienced skydivers — in fact,
most are first-timers. Participants will make a "tandem" skydive, tethered to
a
certified expert skydiver for maximum safety. The registration fee
includes everything needed for a tandem jump — complete safety training at a
USPA-certified skydive facility, all necessary gear, and an expert tandem
partner.
This year's sixth annual Operation Freefall, which caps off National Sexual
Assault Awareness Month, is expected to be the largest, with about 2,000
jumpers across the nation.
About RAINN:
The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network
(RAINN) is the nation's largest
anti-sexual assault organization. RAINN created and operates the National
Sexual Assault Hotline at 1.800.656.HOPE.
RAINN also publicizes the hotline’s
free, confidential services; educates the public about sexual assault; and
leads
national efforts to improve services to victims and ensure that rapists are
brought to justice.
Recognizing RAINN’s
effectiveness, efficiency and professionalism, Worth
magazine recently selected RAINN as one of "America’s 100 Best Charities" (12/01).
About SOAR:
Speaking Out About Rape (SOAR) provides educational presentations about sexual assault to colleges,
universities, law enforcement, and various other civic organizations. SOAR also provides referral and
financial assistance to victims seeking non-traditional types of counseling;
and works toward improving services for victims as well as advocating for
stricter, tougher sentencing of rapists.
SOAR’s founder, Kellie Greene, is also the founder of Operation Freefall and the national spokesperson for the Pfizer/YWCA
Moving Past Trauma – PTSD Community Outreach Program.
