Beach Jumps
There are rules for this privilege. You must possess a current USPA C or D license. The county of Brunswick does not want anyone landing or walking on the dunes. They will give you a fine for either of those acts. The fine will be up to $500.00. (Expensive jump) We also request that you land conservatively at the beach. The city does not mind if we land there, but they do ask that we take into consideration the there are people on the beach and we must avoid all people and not interfere with their activities. Skydive Coastal Carolinas will put up signs on the beach that we will be landing in a designated area and will try to keep spectators out of that area. Also, we would like to keep you inside of the area.
Take advantage of our indoor packing area in our three thousand square foot hangar, complete with restroom and shower, classroom, and video room. We operate two Cessna 182 and one Cessna 206 jump aircraft. We also use larger aircraft for special events.
Wing Loading
is the ratio of jumper exit weight to canopy size. The formula for wing load is the exit weight divided by the canopy size.
For example:
Joe has an exit weight (Joe + gear) of 225 pounds and is jumping a 150 square foot canopy; Joe’s wing loading is 1:1.5. It is common to drop the 1: and call it a 1.5 wing loading. Joe would need at least 401 jumps and a C license for this canopy.
If you do not fall within our limits you will not be allowed to jump. We are very strict on this. Please do not come up with an out-of-date reserve, out-of-date USPA card ( I can check USPA cards online). You must have the license that corresponds with the number of jumps on our wing load chart (see above). If you have an A license, but have 7000 jumps, you will only be allowed to jump up to the 25 jump wing load.
